Physical Design For Novices

Welcome to the Physical Design

First of all what are the basics you need to know:

At BE level:
  1. Device Physics
  2. Digital Design (Basic & Advanced)
  3. Analog Circuits
  4. Circuit Theory
  5. Basic CMOS Theory

Recommended Books:
  1. Integrated Electronics - Millman & Halkias
  2. Digital Design - Morris Mano
  3. Digital Logic & Computer Design - Morris Mano
  4. Principles of CMOS Vlsi Design - Neil Weste
Note: Whatever are mentioned above, are not the all you need, but the least you must should have, to start.

Anyway, if you are with good knowledge of the all above mentioned fundamentals then nobody can stop you to rock the VLSI Market.

Note: Personally i'll recommend you, if you want to be in VLSI domain then better be habituated to study and more study. Why i said that?
Because, technologies keep changing as your every day-night dreams.
So, better be prepare and here i'll recommend you either go for the MS/MTech (Thats the BEST option, you can choose) or join any good short term course in VLSI Design.

Now before making any decision , you should, must, study:
  1. Application Specific Integrated Circuits - Michael John Sebastian Smith
  2. CMOS Digital Integrated Circuits - Sung Mo Kang & Yusuf Leblebici
  3. Digital Integrated Circuits - Jan Rabey
  4. Design of Analog CMOS Integrated Circuits - Behzad Razavi
  5. CMOS Analog Circuit Design - Phillip E. Allen & Douglas R. Holberg
  6. Microelectronic Circuits - Sedra/Smith
Now i think you have an answer about your future career.

From here i am assuming that you have decided to build your career in VLSI, that too, in Physical Design Domain ONLY.
